Come Up With Your Creativity While Making Gift Baskets

It seems that the idea of giving gift baskets has turned into a full time home based business opportunity for some people. I have noticed several advertisements in our local newspaper listing gift baskets for sale for all occasions. The ads encourage people to visit the designers and to develop their own baskets for the person they are shopping for. I decided to go to one of the local basket makers to see what they had available. I was looking for a gift idea for my husband’s father who is in the nursing home I also wanted a gift for two of my sisters as well as my neighbor. I had thought of making gift baskets for them, but I thought I would see the pre-made ones first.

I was disappointed in the price that the person was asking for the gift baskets. Also the quality of the items seemed to be poor. I decided that it would be much easier making gift baskets myself. This way I could include quality items and not have items in the basket that I did not want. I went to a local discount store to pick out items for making gift baskets. I began looking through the baskets that were available. For my neighbor I found an old fashioned picnic style basket that had the hinged lid. She does a great deal of hand sewing so this would be perfect. I put a sewing scissors, thimble, thread, needles and a pin cushion in the basket. I also found a box of her favorite chocolates. For my father- in-law I found a basket that was shaped like a fishing creel. He had always enjoyed fishing. I put several kinds of sugar free candies in his basket. He is a diabetic so he needs to watch his sugar intake. I also put in a deck of cards as well as some dice so he could play games with other patients at the facility. I was finding that I was enjoying making gift baskets. For one of my sisters I decided to use a beach bag for the gift basket. She has a cabin that she goes to several weekends a year so she could use the bag to carry personal items. I put in a beach towel, sunscreen and a new novel. For my other sister I used a wicker basket and filled it with several bath gels and body lotions.

By making the gift baskets myself I was able to customize each of them to the person and also save money. I was not paying for items that I knew the person would not use, and I was in control of the quality of the items. This saved me money as well as insuring that I had special gifts for each.

I think baskets make great gifts, and they are fun to shop for. Making gift baskets will let you be creative and allows for great cost control.

Add Personal Touch While Making Gift Baskets

One of the best gifts for any occasion is a gift basket. One of the drawbacks though is that ready made gift baskets are often rather expensive. That’s one of the main reasons you should consider the idea of making gift baskets yourself. You’ll not only save money but you’ll also be able to utilize your creative side.

The first thing to remember is to never get stuck in the idea that you have to use an actual basket. By walking around your home, you can find tons of other things; buckets, pottery bowels, plastic containers for storage, garden watering cans, the list is endless. Any type of large container could work when making gift baskets. If all else fails, wrap the gifts with cellophane and loop off with ribbon or bows. Making gift baskets doesn’t always have to be complicated!

One gift idea you could use would be a music theme. If you know someone who loves music, gathering some stationary that has music notes and symbols would be a perfect idea for making gift baskets for them. You could even head out to a music store and pick up some music paper for composition. CD’s, tapes, music books, and even magnets and set outs with a musical theme would be great to buy for making gift baskets with this theme.

Another cool gift idea that would be perfect to use could be a movie/popcorn theme. By using many different types of popcorn and a few unique flavors, you can have an interesting gift basket without having to spend loads of cash. Remember to add in a few good movies into the mix when making gift baskets that focus on entertainment. If you happened to have picked up a few chick flicks, a great add-in would be a package of tissues. When you’re making gift baskets with this theme you could easily use a big bowl for popcorn for the basket!

If you’ve got someone on your gift list whose dream is to retire as a full-time angler, a fishing theme should be your focus when making gift baskets for them. All you need to do is go down to your local fishing or discount store. Hooks, rods, lures, and baits would make perfect fill-ins for your basket. If you’re out of ideas, then a magazine focused on fishing would be another neat item to include!

If the person you’re making a gift for is a big coffee drinker, there are loads of things you could do to make them smile. Grabbing up some coffee cups, and sticking a few chocolates inside could be an awesome way to add some fun when making gift baskets for them. If you wanted to buy a few different creamers, special coffees, and delicious cookies into the mix you have the complete package. Regardless of the idea or theme, making gift baskets can add a personal touch to any occasion.

What To Present Your Boy Friend On His Birthday!!!

It is likely that if you’re buying your boyfriend's birthday present for the first time, or even the fifth time, you may not mind, in fact welcome a little help with open arms. There is no doubt that it’s hard to say what every guy will want, however this guy can help you make a few good guesses. Birthday presents in romantic relationships are difficult. This is because, you usually want your presents to be sentimental as well as practical and desired which make them trickier than presents for most other people in your lives.

The first thing to think of when debating about boyfriend birthday presents is to try and remember what your boyfriend has been talking about wanting.  It seems obvious, but just paying attention when your boyfriend says “it would be really nice if I would have…” or “I really like…” can give you loads of ideas.  Flipping through catalogs with your boyfriend or tagging along on a shopping trip with him can be even better, especially if you agree to go to some of the stores he usually shops at.  What merchandise does he pay a lot of attention to?  What does he pick off the shelves to look at before putting it back?  If the potential present is a new fishing rod or a warm jacket, you may not think these gifts are meaningful enough to be given as birthday presents to your boyfriend.  Think again.  Though any old jacket may not be meaningful, if you manage to get the exact jacket he wanted your efforts (hopefully) won’t go unappreciated.  He’ll realize that you’ve been paying attention, and that will mean something.

Boyfriend birthday presents usually differ considerably from girlfriend birthday presents in that most guys want their birthday presents to be useful; they can’t just serve as window dressing.  Candles that smell good probably aren’t going to cut it.  Neither are pretty picture frames.  However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t get somewhat luxurious.  But be careful, as most guys won’t want to end up smelling like girls.  However, lots of guys aren’t willing to pamper themselves at all, but they’re willing to be pampered.  Consider shaving or showering, things that your boyfriend (hopefully) does often, but often with lousy equipment.  Get him a good, sharp razor, some English Shaving Soap, and a good brush, and he’ll use your gift for years.  Make sure to get him shave soap as opposed to standard bar soap, and feel free to get creative with the scent.  Lavender may be a bit much, but Vanilla or Rum are great scents which won’t be overpowering.

Healthy Gift Baskets Copuld Be A Great Christmas Gift

With all of us so conscious of the benefits of good health and the consequences of poor health habits, a healthy gift basket is a great Christmas gift. Personalize the contents to your loved ones' tastes and needs. Just because the contents of your healthy gift basket are good for you, doesn't mean they can't be fun!

Children may seem a hard-to-please crowd when we're talking healthy gift baskets! Children love sweets, and there are many healthy sweets with which you may ply them over to your side! Shortbread cookies filled with jam have sugar, but they also have fruit! Ha! Ditto for oatmeal raisin cookies. Slip in a few granola bars, with fruit, honey, raisins and nuts. A juicy sweet pomegranate may provide a new taste experience, with a lot of natural sugar, and plenty of vitamins A and C.

Teens are vulnerable to hormonal swings that turn into the dreaded blemish or pimple. How can you prepare a healthy gift basket for a teen? I suppose you could sneak in a few favorite fresh fruits. But, a basket filled with inexpensive face masks, foot soothers, and loads of supplements that make for a nice complexion (Vitamins A, C and E and zinc, calcium), with sachets and rose petal bath bags for girls, and shaving kits for boys will be well-received.

Elderly people often have dietary restrictions and aches and pains. The older you get, the more easily convinced you are of healthful treats! If your Grandma loves fruit, a premium selection of organic fruits can easily fill your healthy gift basket. A pampering assortment of herbal bath bags, including lavender, chamomile, rose petals, and peppermint are sure to be appreciated. Your herb store can supply a masterful choice of teas. You can construct an entire healthy gift basket of flavorful herb teas and a special teacup.

What about Mom? She may well enjoy a selection of face creams, cocoa butter, glycerin soaps and bathing luxuries. Herb stores supply various oils beneficial to mature skin. Almond, avocado and jojoba oils should all be sampled, as they are well-absorbed and a panacea to dry skin. Rose water is a good addition, as is witch hazel. Don't forget to include sachets and soothing bath additives.

Dad may not be health-oriented, but there's a way around this! Does he enjoy grilling or fishing? Go to the library and consult a book of herbal recipes. Find combinations that go well with different foods, and assemble packets of seasonings he can just sprinkle on that grilled fish or steak for gourmet results. When choosing recipes, remember that rosemary and garlic are good for heart health. Thyme is a natural antibiotic! Ginger and turmeric are good for digestive disturbances. Ask your herb store salesperson for suggestions on combinations that will make Dad a healthy gift basket, whether he knows it or not!

A healthy gift basket is a thoughtful gift. It conveys caring, but need not be boring or ho-hum.
