Healthy Gift Baskets Copuld Be A Great Christmas Gift

With all of us so conscious of the benefits of good health and the consequences of poor health habits, a healthy gift basket is a great Christmas gift. Personalize the contents to your loved ones' tastes and needs. Just because the contents of your healthy gift basket are good for you, doesn't mean they can't be fun!

Children may seem a hard-to-please crowd when we're talking healthy gift baskets! Children love sweets, and there are many healthy sweets with which you may ply them over to your side! Shortbread cookies filled with jam have sugar, but they also have fruit! Ha! Ditto for oatmeal raisin cookies. Slip in a few granola bars, with fruit, honey, raisins and nuts. A juicy sweet pomegranate may provide a new taste experience, with a lot of natural sugar, and plenty of vitamins A and C.

Teens are vulnerable to hormonal swings that turn into the dreaded blemish or pimple. How can you prepare a healthy gift basket for a teen? I suppose you could sneak in a few favorite fresh fruits. But, a basket filled with inexpensive face masks, foot soothers, and loads of supplements that make for a nice complexion (Vitamins A, C and E and zinc, calcium), with sachets and rose petal bath bags for girls, and shaving kits for boys will be well-received.

Elderly people often have dietary restrictions and aches and pains. The older you get, the more easily convinced you are of healthful treats! If your Grandma loves fruit, a premium selection of organic fruits can easily fill your healthy gift basket. A pampering assortment of herbal bath bags, including lavender, chamomile, rose petals, and peppermint are sure to be appreciated. Your herb store can supply a masterful choice of teas. You can construct an entire healthy gift basket of flavorful herb teas and a special teacup.

What about Mom? She may well enjoy a selection of face creams, cocoa butter, glycerin soaps and bathing luxuries. Herb stores supply various oils beneficial to mature skin. Almond, avocado and jojoba oils should all be sampled, as they are well-absorbed and a panacea to dry skin. Rose water is a good addition, as is witch hazel. Don't forget to include sachets and soothing bath additives.

Dad may not be health-oriented, but there's a way around this! Does he enjoy grilling or fishing? Go to the library and consult a book of herbal recipes. Find combinations that go well with different foods, and assemble packets of seasonings he can just sprinkle on that grilled fish or steak for gourmet results. When choosing recipes, remember that rosemary and garlic are good for heart health. Thyme is a natural antibiotic! Ginger and turmeric are good for digestive disturbances. Ask your herb store salesperson for suggestions on combinations that will make Dad a healthy gift basket, whether he knows it or not!

A healthy gift basket is a thoughtful gift. It conveys caring, but need not be boring or ho-hum.

Gift Ideas For Second Wedding Anniversary

Those who follow tradition know that the second wedding anniversary gift is cotton. Although the first thing that might spring into your mind is cotton sheets or a cotton pillow there is a whole host of innovative ideas that make a great gift.

When you are considering a second wedding anniversary gift for someone you know think about what they enjoy. Most couples who have been married for two years already have many of the essentials. They probably have more than enough cotton bed sheets and towels. Considering something outside of the linen box might be a better idea.

A personalized notepad and envelopes made from cotton paper is a lovely idea for a second wedding anniversary gift. These can be made to order with the couple’s monograms tucked away in a corner of the envelopes or incorporated into the background of the paper.

Most people never order personalized stationary for themselves and they welcome it as a gift. The couple can use it when sending notes to friends and family. It’s a nice gesture and it still honors the cotton tradition.

For those with an eye on the more modern traditions of anniversaries, they know that china is also a second wedding anniversary gift. If you know the china pattern that the couple had listed in the gift registry for their wedding than you can choose a piece they can add to what they already have.

You can also choose a second wedding anniversary gift that uses the china idea in a different way. A fun notion is to purchase a gift certificate for the couple for a Chinese restaurant. They’ll appreciate the evening out and of course will enjoy the wonderful cuisine.

Another idea that is related to that is to compile a gift basket that includes many of the wonderful treasures that can be found in China. This can include items such as Chinese spice blends, chopsticks and fortune cookies.

A very special idea for a second wedding anniversary gift is a handmade Chinese calligraphy picture. These are wonderful when framed and hung on a wall in the couple’s home. You can have them specially made for you and they can express anything you wish for them too, including the word love or commitment.

There are many fun and thoughtful ideas when it comes to choosing a second wedding anniversary gift. Consider the couple’s interests and what they may not already have. Make the gift as memorable for them as the past two years of married life have been.

Add Personal Touch While Making Gift Baskets

One of the best gifts for any occasion is a gift basket. One of the drawbacks though is that ready made gift baskets are often rather expensive. That’s one of the main reasons you should consider the idea of making gift baskets yourself. You’ll not only save money but you’ll also be able to utilize your creative side.

The first thing to remember is to never get stuck in the idea that you have to use an actual basket. By walking around your home, you can find tons of other things; buckets, pottery bowels, plastic containers for storage, garden watering cans, the list is endless. Any type of large container could work when making gift baskets. If all else fails, wrap the gifts with cellophane and loop off with ribbon or bows. Making gift baskets doesn’t always have to be complicated!

One gift idea you could use would be a music theme. If you know someone who loves music, gathering some stationary that has music notes and symbols would be a perfect idea for making gift baskets for them. You could even head out to a music store and pick up some music paper for composition. CD’s, tapes, music books, and even magnets and set outs with a musical theme would be great to buy for making gift baskets with this theme.

Another cool gift idea that would be perfect to use could be a movie/popcorn theme. By using many different types of popcorn and a few unique flavors, you can have an interesting gift basket without having to spend loads of cash. Remember to add in a few good movies into the mix when making gift baskets that focus on entertainment. If you happened to have picked up a few chick flicks, a great add-in would be a package of tissues. When you’re making gift baskets with this theme you could easily use a big bowl for popcorn for the basket!

If you’ve got someone on your gift list whose dream is to retire as a full-time angler, a fishing theme should be your focus when making gift baskets for them. All you need to do is go down to your local fishing or discount store. Hooks, rods, lures, and baits would make perfect fill-ins for your basket. If you’re out of ideas, then a magazine focused on fishing would be another neat item to include!

If the person you’re making a gift for is a big coffee drinker, there are loads of things you could do to make them smile. Grabbing up some coffee cups, and sticking a few chocolates inside could be an awesome way to add some fun when making gift baskets for them. If you wanted to buy a few different creamers, special coffees, and delicious cookies into the mix you have the complete package. Regardless of the idea or theme, making gift baskets can add a personal touch to any occasion.

Gift Your Beloved A Baby Grand Piano

In order to replace the piano that is used to during worship services, the church we belong to, has been raising money for quite a while. So, after several fund raisers and private donations, we had collected enough money to buy a baby grand piano. To pick out the baby grand piano, several of the church members were selected. Because I am on the finance committee, I was one of the people that were to be involved in the shopping trip.

I had very limited knowledge of the baby grand piano. All I really knew was that the baby grand piano is smaller than a grand piano. I also knew that we did not have the money or space for the larger model. I made arrangements to meet my fellow parishioners to go on our shopping trip. The others involved included the choir director, the full time pianist and the minister’s wife. We have all known each other for many years so I thought the outing to purchase the baby grand piano would be a good time. Little did I know that we were in for an afternoon of disagreements and hard feelings.

I felt that the full time pianist should make the overall decision on which baby grand piano that we would purchase being she would be the one playing the instrument the majority of the time. However I also did not know that there would be so many models to choose from. When prices were looked into to begin the fund raising a mid range price was chosen. When we arrived at the piano showroom I was surprised to see that there was a baby grand piano that was half the price of the amount we had raised. We were told that this piano was used, but it had been completely reconditioned. It was actually a better brand and of higher quality than the newer model in our price range. I thought it made sense to purchase the used baby grand piano and use the remaining money to buy other things for our church. The minister’s wife agreed with me; however the pianist felt that people had donated towards a new piano and we should not buy a used one. I did not see why this would make a difference; the money that was raised was going towards the stated use. The choir director tried to remain neutral on the topic, which upset the pianist even more because the two of them are close friends.

The sales person that was trying to help us with our selection sat down to play the pianos so that we could hear the quality of tones.  I do not have a background in music, but the quality of the used piano did sound better to me than the new model. The music director agreed and so did the minister’s wife so we purchased the used piano and made arrangements to have it delivered. The other members of the finance committee were very pleased that we had the additional money that we could use for the church.  The only person not happy was the pianist. She refused to play the baby grand piano the first Sunday that it was used for our worship service. The minister is trying to help her deal with her feelings, but at this time she is still not talking to the music director.

Baby Toys are Best Gifts For Babies

Before children enter our lives, our houses are sometimes disorganized. Once children come along, the disorganization can turn into clutter and a pure mess. That certainly held true for me once I had a baby. Suddenly, my house was clean but cluttered with baby toys and items everywhere. I couldn't keep up with working and raising a child. I was content if only half of the house had baby toys scattered about. Parents spend so much time putting thought into what kind of baby toys should be purchased and what should be overlooked. Every parent wants their child to have lots of educational baby toys to begin life with. I was one of them. I didn't want my daughter to have anything but educational toys. I was a big fan of her learning her colors and alphabet way before any of the other children. I didn't think about the fact that she needed to learn how to be a child too.

Baby toys are sold everywhere these days. You can shop the expensive stores and find gently used toys at yard sales and consignment shops. It always depends on how much money you want to spend for your child. I was not always able to afford to buy the brand new expensive baby toys. When I was pregnant, I registered for many baby toys hoping to cut down my own costs for the future. I was lucky enough to get most of the ones on my list. However, I also found many of my daughter's baby toys at neighborhood yard sales. I admit, many of those toys that I managed to find were educational in some manner. I chose baby toys with bright colors and different shapes. That was important to me.

When looking for baby toys or toys for any young child, you should not always get educational or fun toys. Some toys should stimulate their minds and help them develop their intellectual skills. The other toys should revolve around simply playing. Now that my daughter is a toddler, she no longer needs baby toys that teach the simple basics. I do owe some of her knowledge and early learning skills to her baby toys. However, now that she is into older toys she still does learn things. For example, her kitchen set has lots of food and dining items. She's grasped a concept of setting a table and what foods go with what foods. She's developed an imagination and likes to play "pretend" now as well. I adore watching her.

While I do credit many of her baby toys for giving her a wonderful head start, a lot has to do with what you allow your child to do. Allow them to explore and develop a creative imagination. They will thank you for it someday.
